Dear readers, this is such a tough time of the year. The excitement of the holidays is becoming a distant memory… much like my youth and my 32-inch waistline. It’s cold, windy, and dark by 4:30 p.m. A fun Friday night entails putting butter and salt on your popcorn and binge-watching shows filmed on tropical islands or entering the Upside-Down World. Even Beerman feels like a flat, skunked beer. This can only mean one thing – the dreaded winter blues are setting in.
THERE IS A CURE. Before I share the cure, I have a question. By a show of hands, who in this audience likes fine craft beer, wines, distilled spirits, or chocolate? As I look over the internet, I see an awful lot of hands up. Now, what if I told you there was a way to enjoy everything listed and, as a bonus, help enrich the community? Too good to be true? Wait, there’s more… all this occurs the weekend before Valentine’s Day. I see a unique opportunity to celebrate with the love of your life.
Beerman is happy to announce that he has the cure for the winter blues. On February 8, the Friends of Main Street presents Bubbles and Truffles, the 2019 edition. This unique event brings together local breweries, distilleries, and – most importantly – chocolate. This is an event not to be missed!
There are many ways that you can help your community, but Bubbles and Truffles is the only event I know of that offers you all the major food groups (beer, wine, spirits, and chocolates) while helping a local organization achieve its goals. This year, $10 of every ticket sold will be going toward the purchase of a new water fountain at the Rowley Street Playground. Small positive changes lead to greatness, and we are well on our way.
Event: Bubbles and Truffles
When: Friday February 8, 2019
Time: 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Cost: $35.00 per ticket
Tickets can be purchased at the door but are limited. Tickets are available now at these wonderful Winsted locations:

The Little Red Barn is also selling tickets for this event. Any local friends of the LRB can get tickets through us by simply sending an email request to beerman@lrbbrewers.com. We want to make you an offer you can’t refuse… the first 10 people who purchase tickets through the LRB will receive a free oversized Little Red Barn sticker.
While attending this event, please be sure to take a stroll to the tables containing the raffle items. The items are so amazing this year that our legal department advised me that I could not list them. All I can say is the Little Red Barn donated a chance to join an exclusive club at the LRB. Wish I could share more!
Looking forward to seeing all of you on February 8. Stayed tuned for future spotlights and, until we meet again…
Cheers!
Beerman
PS: Business owners
For those of us who own businesses in the Northwest Corner, this is a great way to promote your business. For 2 ½ hours, over 200 people will be held captive at Crystal Peak with their tasting booklet in their hands. It just so happens this will be the same booklet containing your ad. There’s a limited time to purchase your ad space… if you’re interested in advertising or looking to promote your business at the event, please reach out to Friends of Main Street at fomswinsted@gmail.com.
